The Brother ControlCenter can usually be opened by clicking on the program's icon either on the desktop or in the Windows system tray. If you cannot find it, you can also try searching for "Brother ControlCenter" in the Windows Start menu.
I recently purchased a new HP notebook. I have an MFC-495CW and it prints OK, but I cannot use the other functions. I attempt to open Control Center, but it only has a white shape of the CC, but nothing inside. What's Up?

The product you have is fully compatible with Windows 10 in 32 or 64bit working mode. I have checked the official website and selected Windows 10. You can download full driver and software for this particular version of Windows.
In the Brother ControlCenter there should be a Model or a Device Selector button/menu. You need to click that button to open another window where the compatible devices are listed. After the windows opens, click the minus to remove a device from the list or the plus sign to add another device that's currently installed or attached to the system.
These instructions are also provided on the support page at Brother International. Use the link below to access them.
Note: You might see the configuration for Mac, but it generally applies for Windows as well.

Unfortunately, it is not possible to scan from a laptop without using Brother ControlCenter software.
How do I delete fax on the control center 4 from my Computer?
The Fax files are stored on the Brother machine and when you access them on your PC, you actually get them from the machine.

Note: It's always recommended to simply remove the previous application and drivers before installing a new one.
